[Tizen Application-dev] About Input Service FrameWork

Hi Yoonsoo,
Apologies for the delay in responding to your email. We are primarily a organization who develop input solutions. We already have our product (Adaptxt) in other platforms like Windows, Symbian S60, Android.
Recently we made our core engine(underlying prediction engine) open source (as a demo we made our open source solution available even in Meego platform, when it was still at infant stage) so that the developer community can pick up our solution and (enhance) use it. So we are interested in creating our input solution for Tizen platform, which we believe has huge potential. And already our engineers are in the verge of completing our core prediction engine porting to Tizen platform. Once that is completed we want to create our own input method in Tizen platform to completely utilize our prediction engine’s capabilities and come up with advanced features.
Coming back to your question, our primary target is to push our input solution to be the default input solution of Tizen platform, by showcasing its capabilities. But we are fine even if you can expose a framework for creating 3rd party input methods such that both default input method and our product co-exists & can be switched at will.
Thanks again for the continuous support from your end.
PS: to know more information about our organization and Adaptxt’s features please check the links from my email signature.
Thanks and Regards,

Sriram Nagulapati
Software Engineer

Subject: Re: [Tizen Application-dev] About Input Service FrameWork

Hi, Sriram,

Can I ask you why you are interested in Tizen's input service framework?

Are you interested in just replacing the default input method by your own enhanced

implementation or developing commercial custom input method ?

If comprehensive number of developers are interested in developing

commercial custom input method, then I can input those requirements

to internal platform developers.

Currently security concerns, that key logger or something can

be maliciously developed and distributed, make us hesitate

to provide input method APIs.

What's your opinion on this?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi, Sriram

Currently Tizen 1.0 doesn't support custom IME development but

we are discussing whether Tizen 2.0 final will support custom IME development

in native C++ APIs.

Thanks for you interests in Tizen.

I don't think you can do this using the Javascript API. You must go for native application (Coded in C) instead and you will have to override/substitute the current keyboard/service to use yours. Start hacking the tizen's source code at https://review.tizen.org/git/

Good luck.

Iam new to Tizen platform. I have a query for Input Service Framework(ISF) to develop custom IME(Keyboard). I gone through the developer's guide i didn't get the detailed info about how to build custom IME(Keyboard) and about Input Service Framework(ISF). I didn't find any API exposed by TIZEN SDK for custom IME's. I just want to know is there any way to build custom IME(Keyboard) and how to use the ISF. Please do needful.
