OK, very good. If Weston is working when it is launched manually then it 
should be also working when it is launched by a systemd service.

Is weston-terminal included in the image? Do you have any error logs at 
journalctl?

If this is the case then this seems as a specific issue with Wayland and 
Weston. I suggest you to have a look at newer versions of Weston and 
eventually to seek help through Wayland mailing list.
